A biennial event at St Margaret's Anglican Girls School, the Mayo Festival is set to engage all ages with a range of activities and entertainment including elective workshops, student performances.
The Festival will be officially launched by its Patron, respected performer and past student of St Margaret's, Geraldine Turner.
Building on the success of the inaugural Festival two years ago, MAYO 2010 will bring together Art, Drama, Movement and Music with food and wine, over two days of celebration.
The Festival honours the life and career of Daphne Mayo, acclaimed as one of Australia's finest sculptors and acknowledged as an energetic and tenacious advocate of the Arts in Queensland.
Creative energy continues to enliven the growing city of Brisbane. The MAYO 2010 Gallery will host a collection of limited edition form – sculpture, jewellery, glass and ceramics – from some of Australia's finest artisans.
Featured performers on Saturday night will be Collusion, ensemble in residence at St Margaret's
The breathtaking views of the city of Brisbane and river will provide a spectacular setting for this showcase event and with something for everyone to enjoy. With gourmet food and wine, music and stalls, this is an event not to be missed.
